Units engaged in banking-related issues were established as early as 1949 and, in 1950, became part of the Department of Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2003, the independent Departments of Banking and of Corporate Finance were created. The first Head of the Department of Banking was <strong>Professor Ryszard Szewczyk, PhD<\/strong>. Since January 2020, the Department has operated under its present name \u2014 <strong>the Department of Banking and the Global Financial System<\/strong>.
