We have been in existence since January 1, 2003, when the Department of Insurance was established. In July 2013, the department’s name was changed to the Department of Risk Management and Insurance.

The first Head of the Department was Prof. Wanda Sułkowska, Ph.D., who joined Kraków in the ranks of insurance research centers previously operating at other economic universities across the country.

Since 2021, Prof. Elżbieta Kubińska, Ph.D., of the UEK, has served as the Head of the Department.
