The issues of the functioning of the newly created capital market in Poland were initially located in the Department of Finance. With the development of the market, there was a need to include this issue in a broader way in the teaching process, as well as to undertake scientific research. On April 1, 1998, the Department of Capital Market was established within the Department of Finance to perform these tasks. After the division of the Department of Finance, on February 1, 2001, the Department of Capital Market was established. The further development of financial markets and their increasing importance in the economy, a wider range of research and the extension of the didactic offer for students of all forms (new specializations conducted by the Department) resulted in further changes. In December 2006, the Department of Capital Markets changed its name to the Department of Financial Markets. Then, in September 2007, two departments were separated within the Department of Financial Markets: the Department of Capital Market and the Department of Financial Engineering.
